Product Manager

The Product Manager is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.

The Product Manager is expected to:

  • Define the product strategy and roadmap
  • Deliver MRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
  • Be an expert with respect to the competition
  • Act as a leader within the company


Required experience and knowledge:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Product Manager
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
    5 years of experience in a job in the biotechnology market
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • PhD in molecular biology
  • Biological sciences background, with experience in software product development
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Must be able to travel 20% of the time
  • Examples and at least one sample of an effective document delivered in the past

Web Application Developer

Required Skills
• Very strong HTML / JavaScript / CSS experience
• AJAX, standards-based development
• Cross-browser development
• Experience with XML and XSLT
• Some server-side programming (C/C, Python, Ruby, Perl)
• Some UNIX/Linux experience
• BS in Computer Science or scientific field (engineering, physics), or equivalent experience

Desired Skills
• Understanding of usability techniques and concepts

C Back-End Developer

Core responsibilities
Several positions are available that have following responsibilities: development of algorithms for analyzing large volumes of biological data, design and support of databases for storing genomic and other biological information, system performance optimization, design and development of business-logic and presentation components for NIH web portal.

Qualifications
Strong expertise in C/C and STL. Proficiency in one or more of the following areas:
server-side programming – development of database driven applications, algorithms design, networking;
databases – SQL, Sybase, MS SQL, database design, performance tuning and administration;
web development – CGI, HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, XML, AJAX.
Good understanding of concurrent programming, interprocess communication and experience in multiplatform development. Linux / Unix, Windows.

Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or related field. Background in biology or bioinformatics is not required, but helpful. At least 5 years of software development experience is required.

Gene Library Systems Analyst

Core responsibilities
Design & develop specialized software & analytical algorithms for classification and cataloging of gene sequences with cross references to existing and similar sequences using knowledge of genomic classification & database systems, advanced pattern recognition, SQL and C database design, and network based retrieval & user interface systems. Validates results by verifying appropriate sequence cataloging.

Qualifications
Education:Master Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or related degree. Experience: required: 2 years in related bioinformatics systems development. Skills: Proficiency in the job duty related skill areas.

Database Application Developer

Core responsibilities
Efficiently using APIs to parse, sort and index structured information, design databases and efficiently load and query them, implementing planned API sets, and understanding and utilizing system level calls.

Qualifications
Ability to write clear, reliable, standard, and portable code; solid knowledge of C and SQL. Creative, self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills, a BA/BS in Computer Science or any other scientific field. A biology or bioinformatics background is not required, but helpful.

Sr. Scientific Systems Research Analyst

Core responsibilities
Research, design, develop& validate specialized software and analytical algorithms for biomedical data management, search & retrieval systems using advanced knowledge of RDBMS, pattern recognition, programming for biomedical applications, UNIX & C.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related degree. Experience required: 3 years in related bioinformatics systems development. Skills: Advanced proficiency in job duty related skill areas.

SQL Database Administrator

Core responsibilities
Maintenance and monitoring of Sybase Adaptive Servers, troubleshooting server and database performance problems; maintenance, design and monitoring of a variety of server and database reports.

Qualifications
Good knowledge of Sybase (or equivalent) DBA tasks, proficient with SQL, and proficiency with UNIX and Perl a plus. Knowledge or experience with Sybase Replication Servers and IQ Server is a plus. A biology or bioinformatics background is not required, but a plus.
